inspire09

4th June, 2009
Hilton on the Park

6:30pm for 7:00pm start

The IET Victoria would like to invite you to inspire09, the Victoria Network’s Annual Dinner event.

The Annual Dinner will be held on 4th June 2009 at the newly renovated Hilton on the Park and will provide attendees the opportunity to network with other engineers.

The keynote address will be by Megan Wheatley, Business Development Manager Policy and Strategy, Suzlon Energy Australia.

Towards a low carbon economy

There is a growing recognition that current energy trends are not sustainable. Making the transition to a low carbon economy will create exciting opportunities for Australia, but there also some significant challenges we will need to overcome.

Megan Wheatley, Business Development Manager, Strategy and Policy from Suzlon Energy Australia will provide an overview of the key policies underpinning Australia’s sustainable energy future. She will also provide some insights into the challenges facing the clean energy sector, and the benefits and opportunities for Australia if we get the policy framework right.

Suzlon Energy Australia (SEA) is the largest turnkey constructor and operations and maintenance service provider of grid connected wind farms in Australia. Current commitments will see SEA delivering close to 700 megawatts of clean renewable energy to Australian consumers for a range of utility and investor clients.

Prior to joining Suzlon, Megan spent the last two years as Head of Policy at the UK Business Council for Sustainable Energy – which brings together the Chief Executives of the major energy companies in the UK to progress the sustainable energy agenda.

A topic of concern to most Australians - the talk will feature information on the anticipated carbon-trading scheme. Engineers are often at the forefront of technology and new developments and this is your opportunity to hear how policies are being formulated to guide us in this new era of energy creation, distribution and use.

Come and wind down after work with canapés and drinks after which you will enjoy a 3 course dinner in stimulating company.

Drinks start at 6.30pm and dinner will commence at 7.00pm.
